The TOEFL is meant to assess an individual’s ability to understand and effectively
use English to convey thoughts and ideas and is sometimes a necessary requirement
for non-native English speakers when applying for admission into various English
speaking universities and colleges. Government institutions, corporations, licensing
bodies and scholarship tests may also require candidates to clear the TOEFL.
The TOEFL writing section is definitely a substantially important part of the exam
and tests the candidate’s ability to write with a certain amount of skill in the
English language. The TOEFL Writing section consists of two parts or “tasks” as
they are called and allows the candidate fifty five minutes to complete the section.
These tasks are categorized as one integrated task and one independent task.
Within the Integrated task, the candidate is given a passage concerning a relevant
topic to read and is then further provided with an audio input in which a person
discusses the given topic. The candidate is then expected to write a summary as
to what he or she understands to be the important points in audio input he or she
has just listened to and then further elaborate as to how the points made in the
listening part is related to the passage given in the question.
In the TOEFL writing section’s independent task, the candidate is simply expected
to write an essay detailing his or her opinion on the given topic. This section
however, does not simply involve listing the opinions of the candidate but demands
that the reasoning for reaching such conclusions also be provided.
Thus, there is a very little chance of cracking the TOEFL writing section by fluke
or by a half-baked knowledge of English. However, for those to whom TOEFL writing
presents a challenge, the QlikLearn TOEFL Package provides an easy and innovative
way to learn a thousand words that are hand-picked with the TOEFL in mind within
twenty hours. The QlikLearn TOEFL product will most definitely boost your confidence
for the upcoming TOEFL test.
