The TOEFL judges you on your ability to communicate at University level. It tests your command over the English language to check whether you will be able to read, write, speak and understand the English used in Universities across USA. Hence it is very important to be fluent in the language. The only method to learn a language is practice. The more you use the language, the more easily you will master it.

The first thing you need to familiarize yourself with is a good vocabulary. There are many words in English that bear the same meaning; some may be difficult while some are very simple. It is important to know such kind of words to avoid confusion while taking the test. Almost all parts of the test revolve around vocabulary. Whether it is reading passages, sentence completion, listening, speaking; you will need a good vocabulary everywhere.

There is a huge list of words from the TOEFL vocabulary that you could practice. These TOEFL vocabulary lists are easily available and consist of words that have commonly appeared in TOEFL tests. It also consists of new words of the same meaning so that students are prepared in case a new word is introduced in their exam. A good vocabulary will definitely give you extra confidence during your test since you won’t get confused upon reading a new word.

Developing your vocabulary not only teaches you new words but also their meanings and usage in different contexts. Thus a good vocabulary develops your overall understanding of sentences, statements or passages. To develop your TOEFL vocabulary, make reading a habit. You may read any sort of material form books, novels, magazines, newspapers and so on. Start learning at least 5 words a day at least a month prior to your exam. This will not over burden you and at the same time polish your vocabulary.
