One of the biggest advantages of the TOEFL test is that it can be taken repeatedly to secure a good score. You can keep reappearing for these tests till you are satisfied with the scores. However you need to pay a registration fee each time you appear for the test. Many students reappear for the tests to match up to the TOEFL score standards set by their choice of universities. The TOEFL score is also valid for 2 years post the test. Hence you may use it later in case of an unfortunate event of not securing admission in the particular year.

The TOEFL test can be taken only once a month. If you wish to retake a test, all you need to do is cancel your score. Cancelling a TOEFL score is a simple process. At the end of your answer sheet you will find an option to do so. You need to choose the option. Do keep in mind that once a test score is cancelled you will not be able to change it. Also cancelling a TOEFL score will cancel the scores of all the sections. Hence even if you have scored well in a particular section, you will lose those marks. Your registration fee will also not be reimbursed in such a case but there will be no extra charge for cancelling a TOEFL score. .

The procedure for reinstating a TOEFL score is simple too. Your application for reinstating a TOEFL score should reach the centre within 10 days of the test. The request must include your name, birth date, registration number and phone number. An additional fee of $20 will be levied case of reinstating a TOEFL score. The reinstated score will be then mailed to you and your respective institutions within 3 weeks of submitting the request for reinstating a TOEFL score.
