Reading Comprehension (sometimes titled as critical reading) in SAT is meant to
do what its title suggests – ensure that you can fully and accurately comprehend
what is written by reading it. Reading comprehension questions in the SAT usually
consist of a passage followed by a series of questions aiming to test just how much
the reader has grasped. The author’s intent and the passage’s summary objective
is what the reader is supposed to have grasped fully in order to successfully answer
the question.
Throughout the years, the bulk of the passage and the questions posed from it in
the reading comprehension section have varied with there being instances of a very
short passage which can be read in under four to five minutes by the average reader
and pose just a couple of questions to passages that take above fifteen minutes
to read and from which thirteen questions are posed.
Unfortunately, there is no way around the reading comprehension section. One just
has to improve his or her reading skills by reading a lot of literature and other
kinds of articles and write-ups. The only other thing guaranteed to improve your
reading comprehension skills is a fabulous vocabulary. Now that is something the
