The second section of SAT Math is the Grid Ins. These are nothing but numeric entry
questions. There are no multiple choices in this and you are expected to solve the
questions and enter the answer in the grids or blanks provided with the question.
There are only 10 Grid Ins in the entire Math paper and hence one should not be
very tensed about it.
The level of Math included in the Grid Ins includes topics like Logarithms, number
theory, plane geometry, probability, statistics, roots, limits, trigonometry, variations,
verbal problems, simultaneous equations and other Regular Math topics which are
included in the 11th and 12th grade syllabus. Thus, if your fundamentals and base
are clear then you will not face any problems in this test.
The questions in the Grid Ins are assumed to be tough however it is just the opposite.
These are very simple question which if approached with a wrong perspective and
reasoning can seem to be difficult. Hence keep your mind open and first try and
find a simple solution. During the exam you will be provided with sheets where you
can do your rough work to solve these problems and then enter only the final answer
in the grids.
The Grid Ins include vague type of grids. Sample tests give you an idea of these
and help you understand how these questions have to be attempted so that there is
no confusion on the final day. Also, since Grid Ins are based on answers produced
by the students these are bit time consuming than multiple choice questions. Also
there is a chance of entering a wrong answer in this type because in multiple choices
your answers are guided. Hence this section requires a lot of precision and good
speed which will come only with practice.
