GMAT is not everybody’s cup of tea; some may see it as half a glass of water while
some may see it as a whole glass of water. GMAT in a sense is all about you; it’s
the way you would want to perceive it. Cracking such an exam is not difficult if
taken in the right spirit, isn’t it? As part of the test GMAT focuses on testing
various abilities in an individual. One of the most important abilities checked
is the verbal ability. Under this section you would be tested on basic reading comprehension,
sentence correction and critical reasoning.
It is important for you to understand what is expected from you. You would have
to prepare yourself with questions that would evaluate your ability to read and
understand any matter given to you, analyze the matter and compare it to arguments
and correction of mistakes.
A few tips for any verbal assignment- For the GMAT verbal test, you would be given
a written text of which questions based on such a text would be asked for. Cracking
this is easy and would require you to go through the questions before reading the
text so that it gives you a better understanding of what the answers could be.
Under the second section which is critical reasoning you would be checked on the
understanding ability towards a question or an argument. It would advisable to make
answers for questions from the text before reading the multiple choice options which
would help you get a better perspective to your answer.
And lastly is the sentence correction section where you would be evaluated on your
ability to correct mistakes if any. It is however possible sometimes in the given
questions to locate more than one or two errors. The GMAT verbal test is all about
basic understanding and knowledge applied. If you think you’re bad at this, you
would want to brush up your skills.
